Gujarat is the only state in India with a 2,200 km integrated gas grid that is operated on an open access, common carrier principle.
Districts covered are Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Surendranagar, Rajkot.
ONGC has oilfields at Ankleshwar and Gandhar in Bharuch district. ONGC has struck O&G blocks, in Charada-3 offshore block in Cambay basin, Matar and Karjan taluka area of Vadodara district in Gujarat.
Essar is looking at setting up its own terminal at Pipavav. It is also planning for developing its 0.75 tcf coal bed methane (CBM) block in Mehsana, Gujarat, having recoverable gas reserve.
GSPC (50% stake) with Adani Group (20-25% stake) to set up a five MMTPA LNG import terminal at Mundra port.
Shell-Hazira terminal, also will see its capacity being raised from 2.5 MT a year to 3.6 MT a year.
Petroleum Chemical & Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPIR)
Spread over 453 sq km of brownfield area in the coastal belt of Gulf of Khambhat, in Bharuch District
In close vicinity of other existing GIDC chemical estates, viz. Jhagadia, Ankleshwar, Panoli and onsite chemical port terminal & LNG terminal at Dahej
ONGC Petro Additions Ltd (OPaL) JV company promoted by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) and Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) to act as anchor tenant
The proposed industrial SEZ in the PCPIR includes, petrochemical and downstream petrochemical industries, synthetic organic chemicals, Industrial gas producing industry, packaging industry, shipbuilding/fabricating unit and other small chemical industries
Technical Education Infrastructure
In collaboration with Gujarat Energy Research & Management Institute (GERMI) and Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC), a Petroleum University (Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University) has been established in Gandhinagar
Executive Training & Development Center: offers short term certificate programmes for executives and professionals in the energy and petroleum sector
There is an O&G Research and Innovation Center
There are 39 Engineering colleges in Gujarat
There are 49 Polytechnics in Gujarat. Some of them located near the existing O&G clusters
There are 46 private and Government Management institutes in Gujarat including Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
