| Gujarat - The Emerging Power Hub |

| Gujarat has been ranked second in overall performance of power sector in India as per the Power Sector Rating Report (2005) of Crisil – ICRA submitted to the Ministry of Power. Gujarat ranks 3rd in total generation installed capacity of power among all the states in India. |

The installed capacity of electricity in Gujarat has increased from a capacity of 385 MW in 1966 to 9,561 MW in 2007 and has achieved 100% electrification stage. |

The state has achieved a per capita consumption of electricity of 1,354 units for the year 2006-07, which is more than twice the national average of 665 units. |

There are 23 power plants located in Gujarat which includes 9 thermal power plants, 9 gas power plants, 4 hydro power plants and 1 atomic power plants. |

Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) worth INR 1,334,290 million was signed in Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2007 inviting 19 new projects. |

The private sector contributes more than 15% in the total installed capacity of power in Gujarat. |
