Key initiatives undertaken by the Government, for generation of skilled manpower
 
Many institutes of Hospitality and Hotel Management are established in Gujarat to meet the requirement of the trained manpower in the emerging tourism sector.
 
Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Gandhinagar
There are  other private Hotel Management Institutes  in the state to provide trained manpower  –
 
Vivekananda Institute of Hotel & Tourism Management, Rajk
Gujarat Institute of Hotel Management, Vadodara
The institutes organize various activities viz. Food Festivals, Chef Competitions, Educational Tours, and Fairs etc. every year to inculcate professionalism in Students and Staff
PPP initiative like setting up TCGL-AMA Centre by Government at Ahmedabad for Tourism and Hospitality Management and for speeding up of service provider’s, guides and tourism personnel training. The centre pays special emphasis on target groups who are mainly from weaker section of the society
More than 2000 Fairs and Festivals are celebrated in the state  such as Navratri, Uttaranyana / Makar Sankranti, Sharad Poornima, Mahashivaratri melas, Tarnetar Fair, Kvant Fair, Chitra Vichitra Fair, Dangs Durbar, etc.
The Gujarat government has created successful events like Rann Utsav, Modhera Dance Festival, International Kite Festival, Vibrant Gujarat, etc.
Infrastructure development and basic amenities are been strengthened since 2006 with an annual budget of Rs. 100 Crore
Tourism department has rationalised various taxes like the luxury tax, entertainment tax, sales tax etc
The total flow of tourist during the year 2006 – 07 was 12.34 million and recorded a growth of 15% over the previous year. Growth of 18.5% was observed in the tourist flow from foreign countries during 2006-07. With a number of more than 2 Lacs foreign tourists in 2006-07 and around 1.75 Lacs in 2005-06.
Joint Venture Company (JVC) is formed with IL&FS IDC for understanding development of tourism and civil aviation projects under Public Private Partnership (PPP) at identified location
